Who needs H2O?
Growing up I consumed many sports drinks and tons of soda, of course, behind my parents backs. I was never really interested in drinking water. It was flavorless and it made me go to the bathroom a lot, hence, limiting the amount of time I played outside with my friends. I disliked to drink water. A lot. For years I kept up my bad relationship with water. I would exercise and run up Tumamoc often, okay, maybe not that often. And when I would get thirsty, yep that's right, I would run to drink Gatorade or soda.
One summer my family and I went to Salt Lake City. Beautiful white capped mountains surrounded us by every side or so it appeared. Everything smelled beautiful and there were flowers and trees sprinkled on grass which covered almost the entire city. It was like being in heaven, well the afternoon I was admitted into the ER, made me feel like I almost got there too.

My heart beat was racing a million miles per hour it felt, for no reason at all. Here we were in this gorgeous wonderful city and my heart was way too excited I guess. For about eight hours my heart beat would not stop beating so fast and honestly I was worried. Ok, I thought I would die. My parents had been insisting they take me to the hospital, but I was too stubborn and said "I'll be fine, just let me rest." I was hiding the fear that something could be really wrong with me and I didn't want anyone to know. But an hour later I was convinced i would die if we didn't do anything about it.
I knew I lived in the desert but I didn't know how much of a desert lived in me.
The relieving fact was that all my body was yearning for was, WATER! I had been dehydrating myself refusing to drink water all those years. I mean if I ever did drink water before that experience was probably 4 ounces every month, if the water got lucky enough. My body was basically dried up and my heart was screaming it out. I got plugged into the iv machine for a few hours and that stabilized my heart beat.
If there is one thing I learned from that experience is to drink water! Drinking water is so crucial to our existence, and some of us are ignorant about the fact that water makes up about 60% of the human body according to the USGS. Water literally saved me.
