The Fight Inside
My story starts in the early part of September in 2009. My grandmother Francis was going for a check up to the doctors because of a small headache and weakness she experienced on a daily basis. Unlike some kids, because I was about 16 at the time, who are never caught with their grandparents because its embarrassing, but for me it was all about my family. When I got to the doctors she came out and told me she had Leukemia. Hearing this, I really did not know how to respond at the time, but as a year went by I sure knew the struggle and dedication it took to watch her defeat such a horrible sickness
I remember pretty much living at the Cancer center, and what I remember most is a piano playing in the hallway over and over again. Its amazing how something so small can bring back memories. My grandmother lost her husband a year previously, and through the struggle of someone dying in her life, she really did not have the fight in her. I remember my grandmother saying "I don't want to do this anymore." I remember going back and forth for her so she could get new blood, and I remember the pain she went through as days went by. Cancer is just downright horrible, something no one should ever go through in life, but when we see someone close go through something like this is gives us strength. It gives us strength to conquer anything we go through in life. What we need to understand the most is that family is the most important thing in our life here on earth, and that no matter what sickness or illness we have have knowing we have love from our family is what is most.

As days, weeks and even a year go by her struggle for cancer grew deeper, and her strength for living was no longer. In 2010 she passed away, her fight for cancer was like no other, even for her age she was stronger than someone in their 20's and will be remembered deeply.
